A children’s body and brain need two major things to function properly. One being nutritious food through out the day (especially breakfast) and the other one would be sleep.
Believe it or not children need 10 hours on average per night to have a good chance at a successful day. Their brains are always growing and learning and for it to function at its highest level it needs rest.
Bed time routine should start 30-45 mintues before bedtime actually happens to give them time to brush their teeth, change in to pjs, have a bedtime snack if they like that and story/wind down time.
If a child is to wake up at 7AM to get ready for childcare/ school they should be getting ready for bed at 7-8PM the previous night. Adjust the schedule accordingly. Sleep can heavily impact how their day goes in the classroom at school or daycare. Weather they are able to comprehend instructions, interact and overall just go through their day.
Some ways to help your child have a successful bed time include:
making it a routine EVERYDAY
turning off electronics
regular physical exercise through out the day so they are actually tires
avoiding caffeine before bed
quiet activities like puzzles, books and soft music before bed.
